Ro

So when I finally sat down to fill in this page I had to acknowledge that I do have a tendency to procrasinate!! How long have we had this website up before I got around to writing about myself? Too long!!! But please, allow me now to draw with words a picture of Ro as I perceive her to be.

Ro is, or has been in the past, an actor, a dancer, a playwright, a director, a teacher, a singer, an empath, but more than anything a creature of joy. My life has been filled with blessings of love and laughter, fabulous family and friends, creative work and most important of all, my beloved partner Tup. Together we have managed to journey through the years that have finally brought us here to create Serenity South Healing Holidays at Playa Negra, Puerto Viejo de Limon in Costa Rica.

What I am bringing to Serenity South is the invitation to join me in the mornings for yoga practice on the veranda, long beachwalks, guided meditations and journeys, tarot readings using crystals and gemstones, conscious listening skills and Theatre in its use as one of the original healing arts. I was given the amazing opportunity to study and perform with the Big Island Playback Theatre Company of Hilo while Tup and I were living in Hawaii and what an affirmation that was of how theatre can be used to heal. The concept of Playback Theatre comes out of the work of Jonathan Fox, one of the first pychotherapists to use Drama Therapy. It was an incredible privilege for me to work in meta theatre. How grateful I am to have had that time with a company of people that I love and praise. I’m not sure if the company is still performing in Hilo, but if you ever hear of a Playback performance occurring where you are, I urge you to jump up and tell the first story!

Hawaii was also the place where I started to seriously study yoga. My background in dance and movement (and dare I admit, training in massage) had always given me an incredible respect for the wonder of the human body, but yoga was my personal path to integrating exercise with joy with the goal of finetuning and nurturing this amazing instrument that moves me around. I’ve always seemed to be happier doing yoga within the sound of the ocean. In our morning yoga practises here nature gives us a fabulous soundtrack, and if you’ve always fantasized about doing your morning yoga on the beach, well it’s a three minute walk, although remember the sand does come included!

Recently I hit a milestone birthday and on that day I decided that I was going to endeavor with the rest of my life to recapture the wonder I had in the world that surrounded me when I was four years old. Every day was magic, filled with exciting discoveries and things to learn. Everyone I met was someone that I could love and would love me. Life was an amazing adventure and I could still see where the fairies lived. I believe that’s the way life should be. I wonder what you will see when you come to know Ro? won’t it be fun to compare pictures? Take care of yourself. Play lots!
